Acquired in 2019, the Ontario site consists of several parcels that will be razed to allow for construction of 54 entirely new units focused on two of DC’s most housing-challenged communities: families and returning citizens. Half of the units in the building will be dedicated to returning citizens exiting Jubilee’s transitional housing program or otherwise preparing for long-term housing, and the other half will be dedicated to families.
The property will provide the Long-Term Housing piece in the Reentry Housing continuum. It will also host Jubilee’s Urban Aquaponics program, the first of its kind in DC. Half of the farm’s produce will be used to provide residents with nutritious meals daily, and the other half will support the program through market sales.
